The last lap, Again I have been accepted into the HNGi8 internship program https://zuri.team , this is not a celebration or rather an accomplishment as all applicants gets accepted. The celebration or if you call it that comes in when one gets to the Final stage. (Stage 10)
This time I have applied for backend programing track and will even do the frontend track if permitted. As always, interpretations has come in from different perspective that the whole process is stressful, it’s for the strong, for expert, those who know their onions and all as per the rumor or rather facts around the program and comments. But what they say? set your goals right, commit to them and watch yourself grow.
Probably saw this in one of the many books I read.
Goals and Expectations
Notwithstanding My goals for this program is simple,
- Learn at each stage
- Ask for help at each stage and
- Render help at each stage.
And of course just like every other impacting program, one will also wants to be a better version of oneself at the end of it, which I am not am exception.
HNGi8 internship (website link) as it is called has been, making impact for over 8 years now, hence the i8. Does it really worth the stress associated with it? (a question, I am still looking for the answer). This is my third time of applying and might be my last, finalist or not. The first time was really confusing, did not even pass the first stage, second and third has similar experience either for an impromptu decision to evict or others.
I see HNG as more of a long competitive hackathon than an actual internship, I read a blog of it being called a ‘tech big brother 9ja’ (a Nigeria tv show) then again I am still a novice in this tech space. While the competitive and elimination strategy is okay to some extent, It is seriously discouraging for beginners, (hence the rumors I stated above being fact).
Meanwhile, while the program kickstarts, below are some useful resources to get started with in your software development journey
